During this, my landlord INSISTED that I groom her dog, "he has ALLL his shots, he will be fine my vet says!" So I groomed him. We could not help the pups for about two weeks though! I closed my exclusive grooming shop in Lighthouse Point, FL in order to protect my client's dogs and to sterilize the shop. Neo-Par came later and stopped it in its tracks. Parv-Aid helped and stemmed the death rate eventually.

Even a "puppy store vet" refused to see us. Meanwhile, one by one the vets asked us not to return with the sick pups, for fear of infecting their practices. Plenty of time, administered every two weeks to provide sufficient immunity to any pup. I went to the INTERNET, eventually five veterinarians and finally found the way to stop this killer in it's tracks, a herbal treatment called PARV-AID and a new (then) vaccine called NEO-PAR, which could be begun at two weeks, over a month before the weaned pups would lose the immunity passed from their mother. The results: PARVO the AIDS of the dog world…… a literal death sentence for the puppy and usually the death knell for a kennel. Our vet did tests and in two days the results were in.

We went to the vet as soon as this alarmed us. He became lethargic, would not eat or drink, but wanted to. Smelly diarrhea, vomiting, he became rapidly dehydrated, his back arched, the vets say due to abdominal pain. Three days went by and we were busily making arrangements for the pups to go to the new homes, when the first one fell ill. They stopped at a turnpike rest stop to exercise the dogs, then straight home.

Debbie went up to central Florida to pick the pups up, taking her Mother along. One of our breeder friends also had a couple of litters and wanted us to sell one of these for her. This was to be a pretty big return on this investment! They were welcome arrivals, as we had spent literally thousands of dollars preserving, protecting, propagating and promoting the then unknown American Hairless Terrier. You see, in early 2001, we had a big whelping season eight litters came and most of these pups were already sold. I wanted to, but stopped as images flooded my mind. EVERYONE was stopping to comment on the pup and to play with him. The pup had a new flea collar, new collar with name tag and rabies tag and an expensive retractable lead.
#Endless sky strain drivers
Often drivers will have their four-legged co-driver and this guy just got a new one.
#Endless sky strain driver
Often times, over the road drivers will drop their truck off for service, catch a ride with another driver going his way and end up at a truck stop close to home, waiting for his ride to arrive and take him to a well earned rest. He was actually a trucker on the way home for a few days. His owner, however, at first glance, looked like just another homeless transient with a hook, the dog. He had short hair like the Chihuahua though and was an absolute doll. He looked like a cross between a Chihuahua and a Lhasa Apso. A raggedly looking black man with a puppy on a leash. They were sitting outside of the trucker's entrance to the truck stop I buy my fuel at.
